Caravan Escapades

Moving onto our land - well sort of!

Here's our "site office" trundling down the highway heading for our land.
Picture
Only one or two pieces worked their way loose and fortunately did not cause any highway-problems. As we collected one or two pieces of "debri" we didn't admit it was from our caravan.
We followed behind, and Glenn from MGM Towing in Bega was impressed with our caravan-travel preparation. We were not, we shouldn't have had any loose bits - thank goodness, it ended well.
Picture
With a very fair price and a cheery wave, Glenn left us with the van to arrange. He unloaded it as close as possible to our desired location, but we still had to manoeuvre it four metres.

Pushing it wasn't an option - so brain-box here (moi), said, 'Let's try to use lengths of timber as a lever on the tow bar, as you lift it I can push it.'

It not only worked, but worked brilliantly!
Picture
We didn't use the jack and this is on the concrete block (not on our land) - just showing you the tow bar! Nice bit of rust eh?

We quickly arranged a water tank, filled it with water ("You only want 3,000 litres") and are set to start cleaning the van in preparation for short stays between our house-sits.
Picture
We've since been up to more antics - growing our infrastructure on the land at an alarming rate.

There's been plenty of giggles, spiders, sheds, purchases and all beneath a big blanket of hot humid weather in NSW. But we're having fun - stop by again to check out our next set of
escapades.

Hi Susan, It is quite new to us too, but as we can't officially move onto our land until our house (yet to lay a brick!), is finished! We can only stay there temporarily, I think it's 2 days a week! (Yeah, I know, our land!!!) - anyhow, so house-sitting in the area is helping. We get a good place to sit at a big table for study and work - and between sits we can camp on our land.
The first one happened through a friend, then I just put an ad on Gumtree - now we are in demand. We've had to turn some down! It's amazing once you start. That's how we did it but there are many official websites for house sitters too - I found I didn't need to register (and often pay) with them. Good luck with it - let me know how it goes.

Ha! It started by accident really for a friend. Then when we found out we can't stay on our land for more than 2 days a week (officially until we have a completed build cert!) - it has become a useful way to house sit in the area and in between camp on our land.
I put a small ad on Gumtree and it has taken off - we are in demand and it helps others and it helps us too. :-) Mind you, 2 gorgeous chatty cats and 2 loopy dogs are marvellous time-wasters! I've forgotten how much I adore all animals!

What luxury! 3,000 litres! It is such a precious commodity. House sitting can be fun and a good break....Air conditioning! ahhhh

Love following your adventures Jackie.

Yes, it is luxury, but considered very small! We'll be buying huge tanks (plural)!
House sitting is great, but not a break - just extra work (animals which I adore! and spend countless hours cuddling!) - it's just useful while we get our power happening - solar coming this week.... must get on with painting caravan!
We can only temporarily camp on our land - I know, ridiculous!
